Zeleros with the Valenciaport FoundationJanuary 10, 2020
On December 18, 2019, a Spanish hyperloop company called Zeleros announced that they have signed a cooperation agreement with the Valenciaport Foundation. This agreement involves working on the analysis of the hyperloop technology application in order to significantly increase both efficiency and sustainability of freight transport. Both companies are going to investigate this phenomenon in relation to ports and logistic hubs.
Zeleros was founded by the members of the Hyperloop UPV team which was awarded Top Design Concept and Propulsion/Compression Subsystem Technical Excellence Award at SpaceX Hyperloop Design Weekend Competition in 2015. The company designs and develops new sustainable transportation technologies and is supported by leading companies in several key industries and public organizations.
The Valenciaport Foundation for Research, Promotion and Commercial Studies of the Valencian region (Valenciaport Foundation) is a non-profit private entity. It is a centre for research, training and cooperation with institutions and firms involved in port and sea transport activities.
The Port of Valencia handles approximately 5 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit, used to measure a ship’s cargo carrying capacity) a year. This makes it one of the busiest seaports in Europe and the largest one located in Spain. By signing this cooperation agreement the companies can work together on the assets both of them can bring to the industry.
