During the Intelligent Future Featured Session, Elaine E. Chao, the United States Secretary of Transportation, made a big announcement when it comes to the Hyperloop industry. She informed about the creation of the Non-Traditional and Emerging Transportation Technology (NETT) Council, an internal deliberative body at the U.S. Department of Transportation aimed at identifying and resolving jurisdictional and regulatory gaps that may defer the development and deployment of new technologies, such as tunneling, hyperloop, autonomous vehicles, and other innovations.
“New technologies increasingly straddle more than one mode of transportation, so I’ve signed an order creating a new internal Department council to better coordinate the review of innovation that have multi-modal applications,” said Secretary Chao. “New cross-modal technologies such as Hyperloop have the potential to transform the way we move and work and live.” she concluded.
At the moment, two of the major Hyperloop companies are American – Virgin Hyperloop One and Hyperloop Transportations Technologies.
“We are excited to be here to witness new possibilities for collaboration and support.” said the representatives of HTT.
