The Boring Company wins the LLVA contractMarch 13, 2019
As we reported in the article Las Vegas Convention Center interested in Musk’s Loop System, the Boring Company was recommended by LVCVA to build and operate a “people mover” at Las Vegas convention center.
“The Boring Company, (…) has been selected by a review panel which we put together as the contractor for the ‘people mover’ at the convention center” announced Steve Hill, LVCVA’s CEO.
More details about the planned system were shared. The solution will be a set of two tunnels with the stations along the way. In these tunnels, the Boring Company will operate autonomous vehicles, most likely Teslas Model X or S. The flexibility is very important from the users and customers perspective, so the stations will be separated from the main tunnel and there will be no need to stop on every station. The estimated speed is 40-50 mph at the moment, due to the length of the track. When it comes to CAPEX, the estimations are around $55 million both ways.

Elon Musk also shared the news on his Twitter. The system should be operational by the end of this year.
