Elon Musk’s Boring Company may drill a new particle collider at CERNJanuary 22, 2019
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), famous for facilitating the discovery of the Higgs Boson, is to lose the World’s biggest science facility title soon. CERN plans to build a four times bigger one, called the Future Circular Collider (FCC).
What it has to do with Hyperloop?
Elon Musk informed that he was approached by CERN’s director, Fabiola Gianotti, at The Royal Society. They were discussing the possibility of drilling the new tunnel by the Boring Company’s technology. Musk’s Venture is an infrastructure firm mostly focused on building new tunnels to ease traffic congestion but, as seen, he doesn’t avoid new challenges.

“In view of projects for future larger accelerators, CERN is always open to new, cost-effective technologies that could lead to their implementation, including the tunnels that will be needed” said CERN’s spokesman.
This kind of decisions don’t happen in no-time. LHC has still a lot of work to do.
“Considering the time scale of such projects, a decision would need to be taken in the next few years.” he added
