ANSYS teamed up with HyperXite teamFebruary 28, 2019
The HyperXite, a team from the University of California, Irvine was the part of Elon Musk’s Hyperloop Pod Competition III. Now they are are trying to advance to the next edition finals.
To build their pod, they teamed up with ANSYS Inc. to use ANSYS Discovery Live software for simulations. The goal is set as “designing and building a 1:2 scale Hyperloop pod”.
“There’s no way that we’d be able to test our pod at our maximum capacity of 250 mph with our limitations, our resources. That’s where simulations came into play.” says the team member.
Ansys Inc. is an American public company based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. It develops and markets engineering simulation software. Ansys software is used to design products and semiconductors, as well as to create simulations that test a product’s durability, temperature distribution, fluid movements, and electromagnetic properties.
ANSYS Discovery Live provides instantaneous 3D simulation, tightly coupled with direct geometry modeling, to enable interactive design exploration and rapid product innovation. It is an interactive experience in which you can manipulate geometry, material types or physics inputs, then instantaneously see changes in performance.
It is the first of its kind simulation software which provides real-time simulation environment. It is great to see that established industry players play an active role in the Hyperloop development and help these young teams to achieve their goals. It is very likely that in the future thanks to these experiences software suits will integrate features which will ease Hyperloop simulation and development.
